Save The Date: CatchHedge - The Potential of Hedges in the Face of Climate Change on 07.10.2025 in Braunschweig

Ladies and Gentlemen,

What advantages do hedges offer in the agricultural landscape in the face of climate change and what conditions need to be created so that hedges are newly established as a climate protection option?

The interdisciplinary project CatchHedge - carbon storage in hedges and copses has been researching this question for three years. At this year's conclusion of the project, we would like to present our results and discuss them with you.

We therefore cordially invite you
on Tuesday, October 07, 2025
to the Forum of the Thünen Institute in Braunschweig (Bundesallee 50, 38116 Braunschweig)
to an all-day event.

You can look forward to short presentations on the following topics:

1. Planting hedges: legal, ecological, economic. From planning to planting.
2. When hedges grow: yield, diversity, carbon. Understanding and exploiting potential.
3. Maintaining, using, preserving: hedge management between law and economics.
4. Where hedges work: is there such a thing as the perfect location?
5. The added value of hedges: recommendations at a glance.

In addition, there will be opportunities to discuss the project results and a short excursion on the Thünen site with the theme “Hedges up close: structure, function, and maintenance at a glance.” We cordially invite you to join us for lunch in the Thünen Institute canteen.

Further information can be found in the appendix to this invitation and on our website.

Please register for the event by September 15, 2025, here: Registration

You also have the opportunity to present your own work on the topic of hedges with a poster or stand. Please indicate this in your registration.

We look forward to your participation!

Yours sincerely,

The team oft the CatchHedge-project
