On June 11 and 18, under the expert leadership of Prof. Dr. Walter Wenzel soil walks took place at the urban municipality of Gfoehl. On a route through the municipal area, the history of the soil and landscape of this municipality was studied by walking.

The starting point was at the Lower Austrian soil plate. Along the walking route, some soil columns were erected, which had been devised by WPA. Thus the great number of students of the BOKU, i.e. the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna were able to examine the actual soil type at eye level.

We give our thanks to the urban municipality of Gfoehl, to Prof. Dr. Walter Wenzel, as well as to Dr. Michael Pollak, whose engineering office is responsible for establishing the soil plates and the soil columns, for their excellent cooperation.
