Seminar: Promoting biodiversity in arable farming regions

on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 13:30-17:30 at Bio Forschung Austria, 1220 Vienna

• Creating benefits for agriculture by promoting biodiversity
• Analysis of the current situation shows scope for action
• Measures to increase biodiversity and maintenance of biodiversity elements
• Practical examples for implementation

• The most important wild bees and beneficial insects and their importance for agriculture
• Performance of beneficial organisms using examples (pollination by wild bees, natural pest regulation
by beneficial insects)
• Promoting beneficial insects by creating suitable habitats (e.g. hedges, flower strips)
• Methods that can be applied on the farm

Feldtag - StripTill im Bio-Mais im Trockengebiet

on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 9:30-12:30, in 2144 Altlichtenwarth

• Presentation of the Wiesinger farm, trial in organic maize with home-grown equipment
• Strip-Till concept
• Trial results: Field emergence, juvenile development, root bonding, nitrate, soil water content
• Aggregate stability, erosion and water infiltration test
• Seed fly monitoring in organic oil pumpkin: current trial experience

Credit: 2 hours for ÖPUL23 – BIO, 1 hour for ÖPUL23-GWA (groundwater arable)
