World Soil Day on December 5

The climax of the campaign „Our soil - upon which we stand!" this year will be the World Soil Day on December 5. There will be a huge celebration in Klosterneuburg.

Further eight member municipalities of the European Land and Soil Alliance shall receive "their respective soil" as a soil plate. Stephen Nortcliff, General Secretary of the International Union of Soil Sciences will outline a cross-section of soils in the world and of their significance for use by humans. In the successive international expert forum, the topic of "fertile soils in the sign of global climate change" will be discussed. At the closure of the event, the soil of the year 2008 shall be presented, which this time stems from the Waldviertel.
